Description
Acrylic on masonite panel. 4' x 2'
I usually pour paint to create a background and have found this new splatter technique pretty interesting. I forget when I started using this, but I first applied it to an editorial piece which I'll probably be uploading next. Anyway, it came out really neat and atmospheric -- kind of reminded me of the dappling of light through leaves. That gave me the idea for this.
Since my Dad passed away, I keep having these little moments where things just seem kind of funny. Ironic I guess. And that moved this idea along. It's about capturing a fleeting moment. A song plays at the perfect time, a missing photo you find in an old book, the passing shadow that almost looks like someone.

I lost my father a couple months ago and I know precisely what you're talking about. The oddest things trigger a memory and you can hold it for a moment and then it's gone again. Very nice.
